About
What is Biorama?
Plant and animal life occur in a wide variety of habitats, or biomes, throughout Earth. Within each habitat, organisms have evolved and adapted to survive, and often thrive, according to the local environmental conditions.
A diorama is a three-dimensional scale model of a scene or habitat, built with the intent of replicating that habitat with a high degree of accuracy.
Biorama seeks to blend these two concepts with the goal of creating truly naturalistic habitats for animals and plants.
Biorama was created by Shane Bagnall with the goal of creating products that support truly naturalistic habitats for animals and plants.
Shane studied Herpetology at San Diego State University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in Biology with an emphasis in Zoology. He also received a certificate in Machine Tool Technology, and used his science and engineering training to design and build custom scientific instruments for the researchers at the Salk Institute where he worked for several years.
Following his time at the Salk Institute, he worked in Research & Development at Zoo Med Laboratories, designing and developing novel products for reptile & amphibian husbandry. During his 13 years at Zoo Med, he patented numerous products and spent years researching UV lighting and its effects on animals.
